(scraps folder)
This pic is exported from the completed vector trace of the sketch seen in the first part. I'm posting this preview since it is kind-of informative, so far as how I'm re-tooling an aborted commission sketch in order to take it to completion with as much of the original artist's style intact as possible, as I can't quite pull off anime human faces just yet.
This version was made to gauge opinion of the new wings I drew for
koopacooper's Windrunner here--the first version re-created the original wings feather-for-feather, but there was a degree of asymmetry to them that I had a lot of trouble trying to resolve, so I drew up a new set of wings and superimposed them upon the sketch once I completed the trace with the corrected legs penciled in on the first post. Both versions modified the position of the character's left hand to fix something that looked "off" on the original as well. As a color image, I'll make the inner feathers with colored lineart in order to de-emphasize their complexity relative to the rest of the image.
The version that gets the thumbs-up will be the one that gets the grand prize of a kitchen backdrop and color, as well as the giant puddle of cooking oil hinted at by the overturned container on the "floor"(which is responsible for Windrunner's highly-distressed pose)

Hmm, now that you mention it, Winni's left hand did look a little bit...chunky in FPF's original line-art. I hadn't noticed that before.
As to the wings though, I think I'd prefer to go with the original wings that FPF made. They look to me more as though they are raised outwards for balance instead of up over her head, and I think the reason they appear assymetrical is because the 3/4s angle shows off the far-wing in almost-profile. But thank you for giving me the choice between them. ^_^

Feathers look a little odd. Are you trying for more of a fey/reptilian wing? Mkght wanto reference some condors or Albatross if you want a more bird-like appearance. Then again, you did say its a rough in.
Also t about the merge line? Are you blending that or moving it up or down? For some reason I think it would look better lower.
Note: I dont have a keen eye. Take my suggestions lightly.

Well, as per the comment prior to yours, I won't be using this version. The original wings can be seen in the prior version of this pic, linked in the description.
Aand...merge line? There appear to be plenty of points where lines come together. Which one?

No transformation--the bottle is a container of cooking oil that fell onto the kitchen floor and popped open. She failed to notice this and walked into the puddle of oil, and is now slipping uncontrollably. The finished pic is supposed to have a kitchen backdrop.
Yeah, no transformation necessary. :) Windrunner is a character of mine who has always been a winged centaur.
I have once or twice pictured her transforming into a human though... ^^
I tried to imagine once what it might be like for a mother winged-centaur to give birth to a baby/calf/whatever....probably reeeeeally ticklish. ;D
