For me, scriptwriting often revolves around "let's do this" moments. I just throw a bunch of ideas, concepts, story paths and little snippets of dialog at an imaginary wall untill I've got something that sticks. Then I throw it all out and start over just to be sure.
And then comes the moment of truth: I start forming a general plot outline to see if everything works out in a more coherent form or not. Most of this is fairly generic, but if I'm lucky I'll hit a "let's do this" moment. A scene or a page that convinces me that this is a good idea that I might need to pursue further. This page was that moment for when the moon is half full. So even though this page is nothing but backgrounds I've been really looking forward to it.
Coincidentally this is also a great point to break of part two. Part three will pick up right where we left of somewhere in 2012.
Also, a small side note for those of you who are missing page 20. That page had a naughty word starting with an F so it's behind the mature filter. Besides Ashley being justifiably pissed at Jimbo you didn't miss any plot.
---
Edit: Because I've got for too many comics going on at the same time and this one is at a point that serves as a nice open ending this comic is on indefinite hiatus. Once I have either more time or fewer ongoing comics this series will continue. Those of you who can not wait for however long it takes for me to get back to this can note me for a synopsis of part three.

At last, the pink socks are discarded! (Not that I had anything against them, but something about a werewolf/ full wolf running around in red lingerie and striped pink kneesocks makes my brain grind to a halt and ask "what.")
Looking forward to part 3 when this starts back up!
Looking forward to part 3 when this starts back up!
Yet, even though this page is nothing but backgrounds, clothes, and a cell phone, you do open up some very interesting plot points to explore. The first thing I notice is that Ashley has decided to forego wearing her trademark socks, and has removed all remaining clothing, so we know that all physical links to them and their human counterparts are now gone. We also notice that they have pawed and clawed their way out doors. Where are they going? Who knows...
And in truth, I always thought it a bit strange that they didn't just go to Jimbo's house, as he was the one who supposedly "found" this potion.
With all of this, you then throw in another plot point... the mother... Now this could make things really interesting... She comes to Ashley's house. She sees shredded clothes and claw marks. I'm sure she'll probably assume that something foul has happened.
It looks like things are just about to get very interesting for Ashley and Jimbo...well more than what has already happened. :P
It's going to be a long wait until part 3...
Good show!

In truth, no matter the outcome I don't see it any of it being "Impending Doom".
Let's evaluate the possible outcomes.
A. Jimbo and Ashley find a cure and revert back to their human selves (after a series of crazy events of course). Will their adventures bring them closer together, or will it drive them apart? Who knows, but they're cured.
B. They don't get cured and despite being physically wolves, they still have human consciousness. This is the most difficult of the outcomes because they will either have to accept their fate as wolves, and try to find peace, or reject that fate and be miserable, as they will no longer be able to live as humans... THEN agian... I'm sure they could get job as Customer Service Reps. Personally I'd rather companies outsource their jobs to wolves than India. :P At any rate, their life would be difficult...UNLESS they embrace their wolf selves, and find a happy niche.
C. They remain wolves and devolve into regular animals without human consciousness. While it might seem harsh, it is the easiest of the resolutions, as they would have no human memory of their past life. Their personalities would adapt and evolve into canine variants and they would be happy and at home, whether at a zoo, wolf sanctuary, or as a pet. There would be no man/animal contradiction between mind and body. It's not a fate their human side would choose, obviously, but as that part slowly changes, they would come to accept and embrace their new existence.
No matter what happens to Jimbo and Ashley, their lives are forever changed. They'll never be able to go back to the way things were, because even IF they were able to retake their human side, they'd still have their memories of the events and a overzealous caution towards florescent green potions. :P
HOWEVER, this doesn't mean that no matter the situation, that they won't be able to find happiness. Hince, one of the reasons I drew this...

I'm pretty fond of the second one. The first is kind of lacking originality, and no matter how happy the anumals would be the third still means the characters mental deaths, Although it was very well done in the nojo artwork I feel it wouldn't in a comic so funny lead.
Yet, considering the comment of thefennec on page 20 ("At least they've still got their minds. (for now)") it seem they will lose them. But will it be permanent ? Will it be transitionnal and take their voice first ? Can thefennec be trusted ? ^^
Anyway, I'm eager to see the next part.
(Escuse my english)

Firstly... NO the theFennex can't be trusted. :P Because of this, there is no telling what will occur come 2012, but I'm sure there will be a lot of fun antics for Jimbo and Ashley.
In regards to Option B... In many ways, Option B. would still eventually lead to Option C, even if human intellect (to some degree) is retained. Both Ashley and Jimbo have been turned completely into wolves (physically). Because of this the animal nature of the wolf will come through eventually. If they don't get cured, instinctual wolf desires will begin to override their human consciounsess. They'll desire to hunt, to feed, and eventually Ashley will come into heat. If Jimbo is the only male around, they'll breed, no matter if they like it or not. To me it would be a horrible fate to have your body rise up against you and not be able to stop it. That is why Option C (for the most part) is the more humane fate.
Their minds reverting to a complete animal state, in my opinion, isn't dying, simply transitioning form a fully logic mindset, to a fully instinctual. There is no reason to say that their memories, nor their personality won't transition over. They would still be themselves, just in complete wolf mode.

I got your point, and I think we pretty much agree in not liking sudden total rip off of the characters's mind.
If it's transitional, it's more like a partial change of personnality, much like everybody eventually isn't the same before and after, say, puberty. As long as they're still sentient... :)
Though, in a more trivial note, we're talking about a potion, a magic potion, so it could pretty much be option B with all the good instincts and none of the... unpleasant ones depending on whatever crazy muse whispering eventually flow in theFennec's mind. ^^
Let's wait for the fun, then.

For some reason, this actually makes me a bit concerned for them. Probably like what
chrysalis said.

In truth, I think Fennex has gone into new territory that very few TF artists have delved... The fact that even though THEY'VE been turned into wolves, the world around them has not ended. Ashley and Jimbo's respective families still exist, and just like any family will get worried when they don't show up. By writing this page in, Fennex has single-handedly added another layer to this story.
How will it play out in the end?
Who knows...
Let's just say Ashley and Jimbo's lives... just got a LOT more complicated.

Per Fennex, there is a third story arc, of which was supposed to have been completed sometime this year, however as Fennex hasn't been seen since April, and as he hasn't replied to any of my IM's and such, I don't know if he's still around, crazy busy, or ascended to higher plains per say. I'm hoping he shows up soon...
So to answer your question... no technically the story isn't over...

Sorry for the long delay in replying. Sadly, I have a feeling that our dear Fenex might have passed on. My reasoning comes in the form of his rather random disappearances. While he never truly mentioned anything, I had a feeling they were do to illness, just do to their randomness. I hope not, but I doubt he would have just left things undone. Again, I hope I'm wrong, and life has just happened for him, and if that is the case, more power to him, but if not, he will be sorely missed.
Well they did mention that their update and stuff was becoming much less frequent, but much less frequent doesn't really equal completely stop existing. theFennex has also stopped submitting on every other account they have/had an account on. No idea what happened too him even so. So yeah is all ya can really do.
Someone did note me for that, ages ago. And I'm a bit of a data hoarder, so I might still have it lying around somewhere. I'll see if I can find it one of these days.
Don't expect too much though. Part three isn't some kind of magic conclusion that neatly wraps things up. In fact, it's mostly the opposite, launching a bunch of plot and character threads that need further parts to go anywhere.
