Back in the days before the Internet, people still exchanged letters - a clumsy process of writing them on paper, folding them in envelopes and sending them to the recipient via the mail system (the same organization that now fills your physical mailbox with junk mail, the precursor of Spam).
I used to do this a lot. I was a "letterhack". I loved to trade letters with pen-pals. I decorated these letters inside and out. Here, for example, is an airmail sticker I made many years ago. Feel free to shrink it and print it and paste it on YOUR snailmail - it's open use.

Ah, I remember in part how the motto of the postal service went. So I decided to look it up.
We are mothers and fathers. And sons and daughters. Who every day go about our lives with duty, honor and pride. And neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night, nor the winds of change, nor a nation challenged, will stay us from the swift completion of our appointed rounds. Ever.
*Sigh* How are the grandparents and the grandparents of the future going to give letters to their grandchildren if the mail service collapses like the news keeps seeming to threaten might happen. Actually junk mail only seems to be a problem when your in a big city. Moving out to a small town in north Dakota, we're lucky if we get any mail at all except the bills.

Really! Oh man! Before the Internet I loved letterhacking. (I just didn't call it that.) It was really a kick to write to other folks around the country and in other parts of the world and just keep in touch about the fledgling "Furry" fandom, and share art copies. It was not uncommon for me to write a 100 pager in a weekend, but only if I had a lot to say, as in relating a con experience or such.
