Since Im done with the model now, Heres a picture of Snowcrash's wireframe.
Dear Lord thats alot of polygons. thank god for layers.
I was going to rig it next but now that Ive ordered my new system Im gonna wait until I get that up and running. It will be alot less damaging to my sanity on the new machine. SC has alot more dense and detailed geometry then Brownie did, because I didnt have any plans for an animation until I had already finished Brownie's mesh. But now I might go back and tweak that character and add alot more detail.

Well, Think Photoshop.
Maya has layers that you can assign objects, transforms, deforms, or whatever to. and then you can switch the entire layer on and off. So, for example, you could assign all of the things considered background to their own layer, and you could turn it off when you arent editing or rendering it.
For this model, I assigned all of the Webgrear to its own layer, and then added additional layers for upper/lower body. This way when Im editting one, I dont have the other one loaded and slowing down my computer.

Its really just a standard MICH/ACH type helmet with earholes in it, a bit smaller then a regular PASGT. I had to modify the shape a little for it to fit a non-human head. Nothing particularly special about it in my opinion. hmm.. come to think of it, I should model the Bone recursive antenna and throat mic.
The part I was most happy with was the web belt, oddly enough. that was alot of eyelets to line up.

Little poly happy on the head, eh? I think you could reduce some of the polys on his face without loosing too much animation integrity. Especially right between the eyes and along the top of the muzzle where its close to the bone so there wont be much movement and its fairly flat so you don't have to worry about edges showing up.
Pretty awesome all out, I gotta say. Would be bad ass to see him throw one of those 'nades!
