So 小守 (xiaoshou) is a 石獅 (shishi) a Chinese guardian lion you normally see outside temples, places of importance, and these days mostly restaurants or by a Chinatown :)
The scales are taken from a traditional northern lion dance lion.
I'm hoping to get him made into a suit soon, though it's been hard finding people I think could make him well enough as I don't want him cute, but not realistic XD Plus horns and scales are usually a bit of a bitch XD
Haven't quite worked out what to call him in English yet; his Chinese name means lil'guardian (roughly) as that's what he is ^_^

Yea I thought about Fatkraken, and I love mah monkey, he's ace, but there's a few suits I've seen that I really love the look of so am making enquiries. Depends on whether they have waiting lists, I ain't a patient person lol. More than a year and I'll prob be bored of it XD

You should def do the lion, though yea the stone effect is gonna be difficult unless you use quite a few shades of grey and maybe some green for moss XD
The collar is proving to be a bit of a pain, originally its supposed to be a big thick chaiin thing but I never would have been aable to get it made. Still not sure where to get the leather XD been looking at chinese door pulls for the bit that holds the bell but the small ones are all shit looking :(
