You know, I don't even remember why I was looking over the lyrics to Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" tonight. I know that it's a song that has a wide variety of lyric sets, depending on who performs it and when, and with those lyrics sets come a wider variety of interpretations. I've always taken the song, at least as Cohen originally wrote it, to be about a person who has been broken by the failing of a relationship, but still recognizing that the relationship and the love shared within it was, and is, beautiful and powerful and good.
The idea for the story stuck in my head, and since I'm rather poor at sticking with an idea once I come up with it, I determined to myself that I was going to sit down tonight and get at least a thousand words of it. And so I did, and now I finally have something to post on this empty, empty account. Now I just have to hope that someone will find some meaning or beauty in it.
