Huh, so you actually put gray down first and then go over it with a color? That's...actually a really neat technique. (I would say I'd try it the next time I did something traditional, but that might be stealing, I'unno.)
I really like the composition of the one on the left, by the way. :D

Not on everything! Really only smaller pieces. And it's not stealing at all! A legitimate technique that can be catered to your own taste. I was inspired by this WAY back when, but was never "ballsy" enough to try until earlier this year. And I still approach it differently. Still has moments depending on colours involved (I find it looks best with browns!) and which grey used.

Daaaayum, woman, do you sleep? xD Feels like you completed the lineart for these only just before I went to bed, haha! Needless to say, these are stunning, It's cool how much detail you can fit into such a small space. Love the anatomy on the right-hand one, too!
Preemptive gray shading? That sounds interesting... :0 Though not sure if it'd work differently for Copics, lol...

NEVAR!! When doing commission work I just tend to ride the motivation/inspiration until work is done. xD And ohoho! The one on the right was using Shawn as stock. LOL. And working in cropped/small spaces in my specialty, really. You have to work really hard on the composition and colour themes. :D
Ah, I see! Ride that inspiration wave into the ground before it disappears. I like that. xD Oh lol, I remember that tweet from last night. Lucky you have living stock running around! And that's true. Right now I'm working on a project to make tradings cards for each one of my characters, and I'm all "HNNNNGH OH GOD" over the tiny space. <xD
