OK So I'm gonna submit a few photo's of my babies. First, my favorite.
Name: Dalek Attelår
Avicularia Versicolor. Going by scientific names because common names are too damn ambiguous. This is a spiderling, just a baby. Arboreal and docile. Venom potency to humans: low. One of the only Avicularia sp. capable of kicking their Class II Urticating hairs.

I know the feeling, I have arachnophobia myself, but I've resolved to overcome that fear, since I know it is an 'irrational fear' in all but two cases (black widow and brown recluse here in the states). A year ago you wouldn't have caught me DEAD with a spider any where near me.
Well it took me about a year to work up to this point. I started out just getting as close as I could to any spider i found in the wild, and staying there, getting closer and closer, putting my hand as close as I dared. I even had a jumping spider teleport and attack my finger once while doing this XD
nah it'll look like this later http://homepage.ntlworld.com/the.ta.....versicolor.jpg
The smallest but cutest I think :P Personally I don't think I have the guts to actually touch a spider but I can appreciate their beauty. I do find it amusing how you used to be afraid of spiders and now own a good collection! Bravo! I admit for me, part of the fear is the uncertainty of their nature and if they are dangerous or not. I think id's be more acceptable if I had the security of knowing the spider won't bite me/inject me with venom lol.
Do you ever worry about them biting you?

Well certain ones of mine would bite me with a certainty if they had a chance. The couple that I CAN handle however, I always test with a paint brush, gently touching them letting them know I'm there, to see what "mode" they're in. Sometimes, they're in predator mode and will just bite at the first sign of movement, so I don't handle them then. It's always a toss up any time I want to show them to someone, if I can take them out. Having 8 spiders and 1 scorpion however, increases the likelihood that one will not be in 'hunt' mode. :)
Ah I see. I never handled spiders or am familiar with their behavior, so this is fascinating. I'm guessing they would only bite if they were in that predator mode and not as an act of aggression? lol I saw those fangs on one of your big guys and it makes me shudder at the thought of getting bit by those!

My adult avicularia versicolor girl is in predator mode right now, if i gently blow on the vents of her enclosure, she's there quick as lightning, anywhere i gently blow. She's feeling the movement of the air and going after it thinking it might be a cricket. I would not handle her right now, as an example :) but I just took out my G Pulchra after assisting him from some of his old exuvium. He's a sweetheart. I extracted the fangs from his old exoskeleton. I'll post pics of those soon.
