Thats MR Asshole to you!

The Media mogul Ted Turner passed away after a long bout of Lewy Body dementia. Ted was literally the man who created TV as we all know it today. Literally creating 24 hour news, mainly thanks to Desert Storm when he had CNN broadcasting literally live. Ted was responsible for CNN, Turner Classical Movies, Turner Network Television (TNT), Turner Broadcasting Systems (TBS) and even Cartoon Network after buying up the Hanna Barbera library, MGM and Warners libraries pre-1949. But Ted seriously went nuts with the MGM film library buying up over 2200 titles and did the one thing that upset many film buffs and historians, by colorizing numerous films to where The Library of Congress created the National Film Registry to protect and preserve American films in their original formats.
Ted also was literally one of the largest land owners, with massive land holdings in the US and Argentina, and the largest land holder in Nebraska and Montana. Plus owned ranches in Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, Oklahoma and South Dakota totaling over 1,910,585 acres. He was also big in raising Bison, and was an environmentalist, Literally also creating Captain Planet and the Planeteers. Plus an advocate for clean water and stewardship of the land.
Ted was also big into sports, owning the Atlanta Braves and was commissioner for the US Olympic committee in the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta, Plus was an avid sailor, winning the America's Cup.
But Ted also had his controversial moments too, dubbed "Mouth of the South", plus insulted those in the Catholic Church calling them "Jesus Freaks", even calling Pope John Paul II a "Polish Mine Detector" (he later withdrew his statement) Personally He annoyed the shit out of me by Marrying 'Hanoi'Jane Fonda, and she lead him around by the nose, even tried to get Ted to put in a "Captain Planet Theme Park" outside of Biosphere 2 near Oracle Arizona. Thankfully saner heads prevailed.
But Ted's philanthropy still stands out, giving over a Billion dollars towards environmental causes.
BUT, Ted also had a Doomsday video made, meant to be played "{hold for release} till the end of the world is confirmed. Featuring a marching band playing "Nearer , My God, To Thee" Before we sign off." The clip was found in CNN's database and leaked in 2015.

I'm surprised you didn't mention him owning WCW wrestling at one point. Hated the AOL/Time Warner merger screwed it over but that's a story told way better by others.
Another star on earth has faded...
And, personally, I think Bowie Kuhn was a jerk for telling Turner he couldn't manage the Braves.

As a cartoon fan I could never forgive him for pulling "Swat Kats" off the air
Ted Turner once said that Average Sex was better than being rich... and considering whom he was boinking at the time, I highly doubt he was talking about her
rest in peace
I also remember watching "Babylon 5" and its spin-off "Crusade" on Turner Network Television.
