My father shared these words with me years ago, and they’ve become a compass for how I move through the world. We often spend our lives waiting for the clouds to clear, but I’ve learned that the "thunder" is where we find out what we’re truly made of. It’s the forge of character.
But there is a secondary wisdom in that lesson: learning to cherish the quiet.
There is a unique clarity in the calm moments, the ones that exist right before the sky breaks and immediately after the rain stops. Those are the times to breathe, to reflect, and to appreciate the stillness before the next challenge calls us to action.
