We're gonna be talking about Mongirls and how the game works. Or supposedly worked on the fictional Spelldrive (and Spelldrive Jr). For certain features, we'll be using the Monsters here as an example - Onigiri, which later becomes Ceyeclops.
Like with previous Mongirls, Onigiri is a monster that the player encounters. Onigiri, like most 1st-form Mongirls is a small, cute looking monster (in her case, a riceball theme). To recruit a Mongirl depends on the monster - on a number of factors. Sometimes, they can be recruited by defeating them in battle like Onigiri here. Sometimes, it requires you to use certain items or have certain items or other Mongirls in your party. And sometimes, you need to talk to them and chat through a dialogue tree to a specific conclusion.
And Mongirls, over time, will evolve into her stronger, Monster Girl form - Ceyeclops. Evolution in Mongirls usually relates to a hidden meter not shown to the player. It goes up in different values depending on the Mon. For Onigiri, winning fights will help it evolve quickly. But talking to Mons is also a big component and giving Onigiri compliments will help it evolve faster. You can tell what helps what by deciphering in game clues - or using the strategy guide that the Spelldrive Jr gives the player with the definitive version.
For instance, Onigiri is actually a very anxious and socially awkward monster. Giving her encouraging words will help build her confidence so she'll evolve into her stronger form. (The reverse is also true, where harsher words will make her LOSE points.)
Mongirls functions with a dual type system. A Mongirl's Type is broken down into two components: Their Elemental Alignment & Their Class.
Alignment is self-explanatory. It's where the Mongirl's Powers come from.
Natural - Your Grass, Bug - just anything that fit in with animals, plants, and whatever mushrooms are. Any kind of forest guardian or druid-like mons go here.
Technical - Electric and Steel types. If your girl is a robot, a cyborg, or just goes zap, they go here.
Arcane - Elemental wise, these are your water, ice, and rock/ground types. Your fey girls go here. Elves and elf-coded, anything related to these elements like mermaids and golems too.
Martial - These are your warriors. Your fighters. Your Fighting-Types go here. Also the other half of steel - for your sword girls and stuff. And mons that are based on weapons, use them, or just...ARE them go here.
Fiendish - Your Mons that focus on fire and dark powers. These are your demon girls, your devil girls; vampires, succubi, oni, stuff like that.
Cosmic - Space girls go here. And anything vaguely related to psychic powers or ghosts.
Natr - Tech - Arcn - Mart - Fnds - Cosm
And Class gives a brief window into their personality type.
Goth - Nerd - Prep - Jock
For Onigiri and Ceyeclops, they're Martial/Jock girls. So they're strong against Fiendish and Goth Mongirls and weak to Arcane and Prep Mongirls. Mongirl attacks often are either focus on their elemental alignment attacks or are attacks based on their class.
