Don't interfere!

Slowly, deliberately, Mchana walked towards them. He gave Nzuri a single stern look, and as he spoke to her, his words barely registered in Zeph’s mind. “Don’t interfere. Or Kali will hear of this unapproved little hunt. This is between me and him”.

Not again… Zeph felt his limbs tremble anew as he remembered his earlier confrontation with Usiku. Only this was Mchana! He stood no chance, what could he do? This wasn’t fair. Slowly his thoughts were drowned out but the rushing sound of his blood, echoing in his ears with ever rapid beat of his heart. Not dried up yet, not like the river. It primed him to run, but right as his muscles tensed to go, Mchana spoke.

“That was well done, Zephyrus”
