Yes I did use a ref for this. I usually say it in my description. i dont know why i didnt this time haha.
Ive been trying to use more saturated colors recently because i tend to lean towards a highly desaturated image. its my personal preference, but for schools and the viewers sake i needed to work on it haha.
You really shouldnt envy me i still have a lot of work to do!!!

yeah, i kind of tend to do the same, or i just get really lazy and just do b&w drawings. :P but i really do need to practice with color so i've been trying to make myself just dive headfirst into it, haha
tough cookies though, 'cause i'm envying you anyway :P i forgot to say in my original comment, i also really like the marks in this. hatch marking is <3

This is gorgeous! I wish the hair was done so it felt finished. Even though it was a study I think it could be a nice finished piece too.
If you don't mind critique(Otherwise ignore this):
The only thing I'm not crazy about colour-wise is certain parts of the background really accentuate the picture like the greenish area or the areas with dark blue hatching over the light blue. But the areas that are just light blue look really awkward to me and kind of distract my eye from the subject.
I feel like her crotch looks really awkward. I think you would see genitals? I understand some people choose not to draw genitals though. A teacher once told me it's more insulting not to draw their genitals, but that could also be her opinion. Just food for thought.
Also everything looks so detailed(Except the hair obviously.) that I feel like the hand being suggested makes it stand out as awkward as well. Even where you suggested the face in the shadows looks very detailed in a sense.
That is mostly nit picking though! I love your intense shadows, and you are obviously not new to skin tones with how well you incorporate other colours into it. I think I love the face/neck area the most. Something about the way you coloured it, the intense shadows, and feel of great detail through suggestion really draw me to that spot.

thank you for your critique. I actually value them a lot!
About the crotch haha i usually draw whatever i see, but in this it was just pubic hair that i didnt feel like rendering haha. Ill probably just add it in sometime.
the hand is also very unfinished. i noticed how awkward it looked and finished it after I scanned but never took the time to scan it again haha.
Yeah that blue was definitely a mistake haha. It was put in before everything else and the contrast against the oranges just confuses the eyes.
Thank you for your thoughtful critique people really dont do it enough <3

I'm glad! Sometimes people get offended, but I had a feeling you might appreciate it. I try to never be rude in my critiques.
Haha I can understand that, pubic hair might be a little boring in this style. It might have almost been cool to leave it blank like the hair.
I don't think the blue was exactly a mistake. It compliments the oranges/yellow-oranges and warm hues of the skin very nicely in my opinion(Opinion of complimentary colour obsessed people may be invalid). Just in some areas it looks flat or is distracting.
If you balanced the green(or yellow if it was yellow on top to create the effect.) by using some on the left side of her legs, and did some dark blue hatching to the left side of the neck as you did the right I think it would be fine. Maybe adding hints of green there too. In the end, for me at least, it's the flatness and intensity of just the bright blue that is distracting.
