I love how this came out <3
Anyways, he's a new character of mine and the Ryn's new, official look. I changed a few things from the last drawing, making the body thicker and tweaking the anatomy to look more like I imagined it. The biggest addition are the hooves, which I added both to make them a little more unique and also because I thought it would make sense for them. The hind legs are longer and hooved, making them very powerful and therefore allowing them to propel their heavier bodies from branch to branch. [the front paws are long and hand-like, allowing them to better grip the tree should they slip]
This Ryn also has a second pair of horns and a simply decorated mask, showing that he is an elder and therefore greatly respected by his tribe. Ryn will often put small decorations on their second antlers, viewing them as a blessing from the Gods and because they are thankful to have lived such a long life.
The coloring is also closer to what's typical of the species, a white base with dark spots and patches. Natural colors are more common, with faded blues being a rarity.
The legs aren't as short as they appear, the long chest fur and thinner fur on the hind legs add to their stock appearance.

Explanations aside, [I love talking about these guys, no idea why xD] this is Fern. He's a gentle, soft-spoken but wise elder ryn.
I really, really love his coloring.
I'll give him a history and stuff later, but for now he's the spokes-critter for his species.

And seriously guys, these aren't based off shin lai. You're getting nowhere telling me they're stolen, I'm just going to talk with Alana. if she has a problem with them, I'll take down the two drawings.

I know they look similar, and that certainly wasn't my intention.
Yes I'm aware of the Shin Lai. I know the two species ended up very similar, but that wasn't my intention and they are very different species. They were based on different ideas [Ryn are little tree dwelling, deer-like creatures who purposely blind themselves, while shin lai are big, dragon-like things who mask themselves because of their culture] and I didn't take any inspiration from them.
Either way, I'm still working on developing them and adding different features to make them more unique. [they'll most likely have hooves on their back legs] and they're really only a personal species. If the problem becomes an issue I'll speak with Alana I guess.
I can see how you'd think they're stolen [they're far more similar than even I wanted them to be] but they are entirely different species.
Don't bother reporting it, I'm typing up a note to Alana as I speak. Hopefully it'll clear things up. x3

I just saw the Shin Lai and all I can say is 'Lolwhut?'. I do not see how they are remotely alike. The Shin Lai look like furry dinosaurs, these guys look nothing like a dinosaur. If it makes you feel any better, people will say just about anything is stolen nowadays. It's a real shame how they seem to believe that ingenuity is lost to all except those who apparently make the bigger dino. -Rolls eyes-
That aside, seriously wishing you luck with this case. The character and species are quite lovely. ^^

Thanks, Tammy.
I'm hoping that'll it'll clear up pretty quickly, I really like drawing these guys and I'd rather not be labeled an art theif. I really love the Shin Lai, they're a very creative species and I know a couple people who have them, but they're based off of entirely different ideas and any resemblence is only an accident. I'm glad you believe me. ^^
And thank you. <3

I'm going to agree with Tammy. The only resemblances I honestly see are general posture, horns, and masks (that is ignoring the use/meaning of them), which, honestly, are very popular in made-up species. Might as well report anyone who uses any of those (which would be a lot) if this counts as 'stolen'. :/
But yeah, good luck with them. ^^ I hope people stop harassing you about them. <3

If anything, I would report the people doing the harassing. If they are getting out of hand they should really tone it down, as it not only reflects ill behavior from their part, but it reflects poorly on the artist, only because they are doing a bad representation of her and her species through no fault of her own. =<
In any case, we are rooting for you, Wib. I am sure the artist will be able to see how they are not alike in the slightest. As Kam said, masks are pretty popular in made up species, horns are... well... horns, you can't say much there, and general posture is something required for ref making. X3
