I really love his coloration. How long do the males live? From what I understand the females can live what like 20 years or something crazy?

Depends on the species. Spiders that are slow growing like The Mexican red knee http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4601138/
The female can live well into her 30s. The record for a female Red knee living in captivity was 35 years. The male dosent live for as long but can still live for a good few years as an adult male.

Sadly this tarantula died a few months back. he was a good 5 years old but when he molted into his adult skin he lasted about 10 months.
