First I just want to say that I drew this because it has been 10 years, and I wanted to draw something. As an American living in Jersey I was very effected by that day and by the people who did remarkable things. Many countries did many things for the US.. but Canada did a great deal more because they were our land neighbors. Thousand of planes had to be landed in a very short amount of time, and Canada got every single plane that was heading into the US from across the sea's and who didn't have the fuel to turn back. It was called Operation Yellow Ribbon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operat....._Yellow_Ribbon Many of the people on these planes were American's who couldn't even return to their own country. Not only did Canada take these all these people, but they did everything they could to make sure they were comfortable, welcomed and felt safe.
Live here in the States, I know there are a lot of people here who did a wonderful things. I don't want to ignore them, but i know their stories have been told. What I find moving is when countries come together and help out each other. And So that's why I drew this. I really just wanted to share how honored i felt by what Canada did for America that day.. and not many talk about it.
I don't care who was behind the attacks that day. That isn't the point of this picture. If If anyone wants to comment and say something like that.. please just don't.. and find something better to do with your time. Thank you.
And thank you to everyone around the world who felt with US that day. In spite of what some might think, we feel for you all as well when bad things happen.

I took the words I had written out because I wanted the picture to be moving without words. It is still a thank you picture though.

yeah i guess in a way. It's still always nice to thank them regardless. They went through a lot that day too.. and when America shut down everything, Canada sadly had to get everything meant for us. Stranded people, ships, planes. Many from other countries, and even planes that were only flying from one US state to another. I'm very sure no one asked them if they could do that.. they just did it without a second thought.
I think the point of this piece is "No matter how much things may suck, we can always count on our friends, neighbors, and the basically good nature of humanity to come through even when other people are being assholes." To me, anyway.
It's a beautiful work. ^w^

Wow thanks. I really liked what you said and it moved me enough to edit the picture and take out the words. Though it is still a thank you piece to Canada, if others can look at it and see the point that you made, then i wanted it to represent other countries as well, and show that it's really important to have the support from other countries in really hard times.
This picture is very powerful to me especially, because a lot of the Trans Atlantic flights that day got routed to the local international airport and several of the passengers were housed in the high school I was attending at the time. I wanted to point out that it was the other way around 95 years ago when an ammunition ship exploded in Halifax harbour practically leveling the city in the largest man made explosion until nuclear testing started. Boston had a train full of supplies, doctors and aid on the way by nightfall and the kept sending as much as they could. It would be a shame not to share that same kindness and concern for our neighbours in their hour of need.
<3 I am constantly reminded that something bad happened that day, but people forget all the good that was done because of it. I was not directly affected by the events, being half a country away, but I still have a weak spot for hearing anything new that shows people coming together in any way because of it.
I do too. One program showed how other countries reacted.. and the things their leaders said. In England they played the Star Spangle Banner at the Changing of the Guards..and there were so many people around and crying. And in France of all places. Also had a huge out pouring of people who were crying. Watching that, made me cry a lot. Because I was really touched by it. Even countries who have not been allies, felt for us that day and reached out. And I wish that type of kindness could be shown more between countries.
