Tooie: Within the many chapters of my novel Tooth and Tail is a chapter called Dirge of a Madman. After writing it, I really wanted to do an audio version of it. Enter friend: Locke Hotfur, an up and coming theatrical actor. I asked him if he would do a reading of the chapter and after lots of talks and direction, he finally pulled through for me.
Now fair warning. Some context might be lost while listening as this chapter is smack int he middle of the novel, but don't let that stop you! It is entirely worth hearing with or without prior knowledge of the novel! Besides, this is a great change to hear the great Locke Hotfur at work! I am sure both him and I would love to hear what you think. So, please listen to it. :)
Also I did do the audio editing. I am still using a rather old program called Cool Edit Pro cause I cant afford the new Adobe owned software. I did my best. There are some parts where the background air changes pitch and there is a little bit of mic rattling that I could not fix without erasing his voice. Just keep that in mind.
Anyways, I asked Locke Hotfur if he wanted to make a comment after mine and this is what he had to say:
Locke Hotfur: It was a fun thing to do, it was nice to actually contribute something of my talent to something. I rarely get to do dramatic roles and this one was certainly a nice challenge and that I hope they enjoy the second series.
Tooie: Of course, he is referring to Tooth and Tail Vol 2 which is still being written. :) Hope you enjoy it!

Crazy Justice: I loved the tenuous tremble in the narrator's voice as he eloquently thinks and feels aloud. His question of HOW seems not to be the ultimate cause of his vexation as much as his insatiable desire for his very suffering. He is a man whose insanity makes perfect sense to him. If one is not careful, the madness may become all too sane. PS Richard O'Brien is an actor whose voice makes anything his says sound interesting. The voice of 'Dirge has the same melodious quality.
Don(Friend of Tooie): His reading was exceptional! He captured the real emotions of the scene, and you could see the character's grief and rage. It was especially potent when he was discussing the superiority of the rats. You could feel how it chafed him that they had to act subservient to the mice. Also, I had not realized how much he had suspected what was to come. It was all there, though he did not understand it. And that was what drove him into madness. Locke was able to latch onto his betrayal and build on that, going deeper and higher. His emotions grow stronger throughout the scene, and even when the voice is soft, you can feel the rage and confusion smoldering underneath. Voice acting is a different kind of performance and he really nailed the jagged depths of the character's soul.
