Another character I came up with and who is not related to the book I'm currently writing. Just like May the otter, I like hedgehogs (for some reasons). Designed for me by
.
Name: Morning grouch Alex, the introverted hedgehog boy
Species: Hedgehog
Gender: Male (he/him)
Age: 15
Personality: Frugal, lazy, late riser, organized, ineloquent, introverted, analytic, inventive, jumpy, shy
Likes: Sleep late, long nights, weekends, video games, coffee, true friends, isolating himself, comics, coffee shop jazz
Dislikes: Confrontations, working days, getting up early, Mondays, power outages, hustle and bustle, surprises, spontaneity, sports
Background/origin/story:
15-year-old Alex is a former city kid. He recently moved to a small village with his divorced father. Especially the first few weeks in the quiet countryside were very difficult for him. Even though Alex has mostly isolated himself from the outside world in the past, it is still unusual for him not to get what city life always had in store for him: Ordering Pizza, go shopping, visit the cinema, drive a streetcar and more. Despite not agreeing with his father's decision to live in the countryside, Alex understands it. The cost of living is lower and his father's new workplace is located nearby. Therefore, father and son have a good relationship, even if the comforts that only a city can offer are missing. Alex does not like to talk about his mother and has not seen her since he moved.
Alex prefers to shut himself off from the outside world all day long. It's hardly surprising that the first thing he does after school is barricade himself in his room. Then you'll usually find him (if he lets you in) with the blinds down, playing video games or reading comics. Due to his spiky hair, Alex needs a special chair with open backrest or no backrest at all to sit on. Thanks to his solitary nature, he has few friends, mainly from the internet. That's why he is rarely disturbed in his personal space. Since Alex avoids confrontation, he doesn't play competitive games, because he avoids confrontation. He even avoids sports games, which further confirms his reputation as a sports slacker. It comes as no surprise that his favorite time of the week is the weekend. He despises it to stay up early.
On Monday mornings, Alex is usually in a particularly bad mood—after a weekend that was far too short, but with long nights. Despite his relatively young age, Alex drinks black coffee. Otherwise, he would be even more grumpy in the morning, he argues in defense of this habit. Fortunately, his coffee consumption is moderate. No side effects have been observed so far, except that he is actually more focused on the task at hand. Despite his dislike of school, he has above-average grades. He rarely fails at a task. Homework is still a thorn in his eye. He is especially interested in journalism, economics, politics and world affairs. Alex is a very frugal person.
Daily routine is one of the most important things in Alex’ life. He doesn’t care about social events, even his own birthday. In his eyes, events like these are only an unpleasant distraction. Alex secretly cares a lot how other people think about him. But he’s too scared and too shy to change anything about him. And he’s glad that people stopped asking him to change. He values “true friends” a lot—friends who accept him for who he is and don't constantly try to change him so that he fits in better with society. Although he dislikes confrontation, Alex takes pride in finding solutions to problems. Thanks to his determination and analytical skills, there hasn't been a major challenge he hasn't been able to overcome.
