I have a feeling it's gonna have something to do with like what some lizards can do, where their tail can detach and wiggle around to keep a predator paying attention to that while the actual creature makes a get-away. Generally, the blood where the tail detaches clots pretty quickly. Wouldn't do much good for a lizard to lose it's tail only to die of blood loss. Same thing with Rory. That's my assumption on this matter anyway. :)
