If you don't push back when the boundary is threatened, then the boundary might as well not exist. If people know that they can get away with breaking or pushing or harming the boundary, then they probably will keep pushing.
It's bad behavior, and we shouldn't need to be as protective as we end up being, but sometimes it's the only way for people to take us seriously.

It's that little equation toward change, isn't it?
C = A × B × D > X
C is Change, and change can only happen when A x B x D is greater than X.
A, dissatisfaction with how things are right now. Things have to be a pretty bad to get enough momentum up to change them, or you need higher B and D.
B, a clear goal, something you want, something that you need to have. Something vague works when A is bad enough, but if A's not bad, you need a very clear B.
D, clear steps that you can take. The clearer, and easier, the better; this gives D higher value, and makes it easier.
And then there's X, which is the overall cost of changing. If you can get A, B, and D higher than that, you can make the change.
Neb is being THAT ass that makes it very easy to rebel, because he drives A up so high.

I shouldn't be surprised by how clear you can get your point across, and yet you surprise me all the time.
Yes, this is great. On regular circumstances, B and D are desirable and peaceful enough that makes A possible to bear.
You want to leave home on good terms. Not like this.

I'd like to take credit for the formula, but it's not mine, heh. It's a very useful one, though, and I like to keep it around as a means of helping plan things out for myself.
But yeah, it's great if you can leave home on good terms, but if you can't...well, at least you can leave.

The big ones were of course the hair length and comic pile showing how time has passed. ^^
But the first panel is super interesting to me! With how long the hair is it makes me think he hasn't been living at Neb's place long. And the arm bandage makes me think he just got his childhood vaccinations. Just seemed like a neat hint at how old he was and how long he's been under Neb's care.
I also thought it was interesting that it looks like he's drinking tea in the last few panels, despite working at a coffee shop. Made me think it was either subtle rebellion or just being real sick of coffee hahaha.

Por cierto, pobre Timmy se le cayó su té. :{
