Didn't know what the hell to title this.
Just messing around a little. Wanted to draw a lion dude.
I'm still too timid with my value differences and it really flattens thing. My darks need to be darker, and my lights lighter :(
Critique is super welcome please and thank you.

It's okay! Thank you for the input! :) This is actually an update from the initial sketch after some help on the FA forums and I think it looks 10000000 times better, although of course there's still a lot of room to improve :)
I really appreciate the critique. I think it's sad how people seem to shy away from them everywhere I go :(

Thank you very much! I really should get off my lazy bum and get to painting again. This is the only thing in my gallery I'm not ashamed of
I did use a reference for the torso. Reference is the best way to learn! I'm trying to grasp an understanding of bounce light and all that. It's tough! Not to mention throwing in color theory on top of all that

Yeah, references are the only way I can do it without sobbing and curling up into the fetal position.
Most of my issue is translating my understanding of geometry I learned from pencil sketching over to digital painting! It's rough. I still ragequit my tablet from time to time, but hopefully I'll eventually get it.

Well I wish I had intensive experience with traditional media! I can just make things that look slightly impressive with pencil and paper. I have little to no traditional painting experience, and I tend to think in lines more than I do in three dimensional shapes, so I feel like my work always comes out looking a bit flat. What I need is a drill sergeant/staunch visual artist to smack me over the head and teach me good habits. <_<
Well, watching Stigmata's livestreams has been really inspiring and helpful to me! Hopefully you can catch him before he goes nighty-night next time
The program I took focused a lot on live figure drawing/painting (something that I've never done before), and while it has improved my art significantly, it's still a little tough to translate. The thing that was so helpful to me about traditional media, is that I feel like I focused on the big shapes a WHOLE lot more. They key for me was to not even focus on drawing a person. Just get the angular shapes that make up the figure you are looking at down.
Also reference reference reference. I like this website a lot for warm ups :)
