This 18th Century woodcut shows a badger hard at work harvesting turnips. Badgers were the most common species of tenant farmer on stoat manors until the middle of the Industrial Age. As stoats migrated towards the growing factory business the ownership of these farms fell into badger hands at last.

Without the harsh lash of the stoat keeping badgers in line, how can you expect them to work properly?
