Sledders use their large front legs like skis, and propel themselves with their hind legs. They're strong enough to help the Baleens by pulling sleds over the sands and softer grounds of their range.

They're omnivorous, and happily eat whatever goodies the Baleens give them from their leftovers.
It also helps they have a symbiotic "moss" that lives in their clear domed shells. The moss gets protection and fluid from the Sledders, and in return converts sugars and provides extra energy.
