Kangaroos are great to be around. I got to interact with some tamed ones in Cairns, Australia. You don't really feel like you're watching them, so much as hanging out with them. They're so laid back, and seem to like to play. They're powerful though, and they are wild animals, so of course you have to respect that.
the wallaroos were softer. and yanno, i didn't exactly take a big ole sniff in that enclosure so i'm not sure XD there were a lot of them chilling out in there.
here is a video of some guys feeding the critters at the exhibit

I have fed kangaroos and petted them too ^^ them!
they're really very good-natured when you don't spook them (then they're likely to "box" or kick you) x3
Their fur feels similar to a short-haired cat :3
the softest part is the spot between their ears ^^
Also, I really like these paintings *^^*
you did a damn good job with the view from underneath :D

I don't know how often you're in GA, but we have one of the largest kangaroo rehabilitation centers in the continental US, if not the largest. I live in Atlanta, and it's about 45-1hr north of where I live, if you're ever down in town.
They have close up enclosures, and when I saw "close up" I mean these damn roos get right up next to you. I think they're closed right now, but check the website to see if they'll post a reopening schedule. http://www.kangaroocenter.com/
There is another place too you might like a lot, and it's called Pine Mountain Safari, in Pine Mountain GA. It's a free roaming rehabilitation center for big game animals that the government has intercepted on the exotic pet market. They have everything, seriously. All the ungulates you could imagine, from deer to giraffes! And it's all very personal, and very up close. http://www.animalsafari.com/safari/index.php
I don't know where you're from, but a personal fav of mine for studies is the Chattanooga Zoo, in TN. Admission is like 5$, too. They are very small-scale, and completely non-commercial so the experience is 100% about the animal instead of the presentation, or flashyness of the facility like you see with most bigger facilities.
not tryin' ta spam you, just figured I'd let you know about some of my favorite places to visit!

Rooooos!! x3 Aww, they're so cute and pretty. <3
I saw one close up at a zoo here. I could have easily hopped the "fence." they were just wood bars. xD They were all interesting. Especially when the zoo keeper came and I got to watch them eat and ask her questions about animal stuff. And I guess one of them either liked the zoo keeper or really liked food, 'cause he had an erection after that. I decided to end the conversation and walk to the next exhibit.
Yeah I know, lovely story. xD;

Is the title from Dot & The Kangaroo?
Also I LOVE this...so detailed and realistic...so many people when they do studies (me included :/) they like...don't make expressions at all, or they're kind of...blank in a false way. This looks like the expressions I've seen on most roos in photos.
I really love the angles you pulled here too, OH man!
