Bio:
Naomi Solain grew up in Slateport City where she lived an unusually active life for her species, usually regarded as intellectuals. Her parents stressed the importance of hard work and that a sound body was just as important as a sound mind so she strove to exercise both. She attended the PCA when she was old enough, where she made good grades despite a few splotches on her disciplinary record. Naomi was a bit of a troublemaker, not out of malice, but because she was easily bored and her attempts to find ways to entertain herself didn't always sit well with the administration. Although she performed well in battles she never intended to make a career out of it, seeing it as a way to stretch both her muscles and mind.

After graduation Naomi went on to enroll in Viridian University, majoring in psychology. During her sophomore year of college a series of events led her to try out for the college's intramural battle team, which she easily landed a place on. Her PCA training proved to be invaluable and it was then that she realized just how superior the training received at the PCA was in relation to those who didn't enjoy such a benefit. The team enjoyed a considerable winning streak until a battle with the school's heated rivals from Saffron was scheduled. Both teams engaged in a series of pranks, taunts, and stunts, as is typical of sporting events of that magnitude in college, but the Viridian team went too far with one such stunt which led to the arrest of all team members. Charges were dropped by officials in Saffron in order to allow the match to go on but the damage had been done. The incident proved to be an embarrassment to Viridian University who temporarily shut down their intramural battle program at the end of the semester.

Naomi was disheartened by the University's actions but silently found it to be a bit of a relief. She realized that her life wasn't quite taking the path she had planned and was grateful to have an easy out to get back to what she wanted to be doing. She refocused her efforts on her studies and was content to fade back into obscurity. She doesn't mention the incident today, which has largely been forgotten except by the most die-hard battle sports enthusiasts. She ended up graduating from the University with honors and continued on to earn several post-graduate degrees in teaching, battle psychology, and related fields. She worked as a teaching aide at the University for a bit before being awarded a teaching position but felt that by the time the students got to her it was too late for her to have the impact she wanted. She always felt a debt to the PCA for the education they had provided and left Kanto University to return there, where she was hired on as a special attacks battle coach. She has held that position for several years, highly regarded by both faculty and students, and is now up for a promotion - to assistant principal.

Personality:
Ms. Solain's personality is hard to put a finger on, mainly because it varies depending on who she's interacting with. To students she's a stern, no-nonsense battle instructor. Though she is patient and not harsh, she does not allow for foolishness and takes the task at hand seriously. She teaches patience, conservation of energy, timing, tactics, and other aspects of battle but also handles advanced courses and tutoring in more detailed aspects of battle, such as combining moves with a student's own or their teammates.

To friends or other faculty however she is much looser, her wilder streak from high school and college coming out. She makes jokes, tends to instigate trouble (of the friendly kind) between her fellow administrators, and is the one who will come right out and say what everyone may be thinking about anything in particular. If a pair of teachers are rumored to be dating, she's the one who will call them on it, usually at the worst (best) possible time.

In short Ms. Solain remembers what it was like in high school and remembers her own experiences and how things could have gone better. She lacked discipline back then but has matured enough to realize it now. She keeps an eye out for students who were like her - smart, talented, but in need of a little reining in, and takes care to counsel them, though she tends to not let them know she's doing so. But she also knows that sometimes you have to let kids be kids and she has been known to look the other way or even cover for students who may be in some trouble, typically with a promise that they take care of things, or SHE will. She understands that peer pressure and other factors can lead people to do stupid things so she can be forgiving - once. She has also not forgotten the rush of battle from college and will engage in sparring or pick-up battles with other members of the faculty, and has been known to battle in small local leagues' "amateur night" events from time to time under an alias.
