Small spear pros: lighter to carry, allowing the warrior more mobility, especially in confined spaces. Easier to conceal if need be. Able to carry more.
Cons: Being smaller it won't have quite the same stopping power as a large spear. Less imposing. Less melee range.

*g* reminds me of the Tiger armor on "Titan Quest"... Unfortunately, there were no female tiger warriors in that game, and it was a Hack 'n'Slay like DII-LOD.
