My friend
Gator3K allowed me to draw a gift art of his character. This is one of the mutliple gift arts (yes, arts, because I'm making more than one) for him. He's dressed like a bellydancer (just the veil, really) and he's saying (not a PERFECT translation, just a paraquote) :
"This is odd, but kinda cool."
And, I, as Icarus (not seen) and saying (again, paraquote) :
"You do look cool."
I hope you enjoy it, Gator! This is only the beginning, man.

You know, even with pics of art rather than scanned art... though perhaps a bit tricky, it is possible to make it look almost as good as if done by a scanner.
First off... nice tight zoom on it from directly overhead on the page with the art on it. So tight a zoom in fact that the image barely fits in frame.
Second, if any cropping needs to be done, it could opened up and cropped under your fave art program of choice.
Also, using many art programs "auto fix" or "auto levels", or auto anything can sometimes help character lineart to look darker, and more well defined looking.
Erm... b-but, please... I beg of you... don't think I'm downing your art or your method of how you get a digital image of it to put up on the net... just trying to help... that's all, honest.
*Hugs*
Btw... this is pretty nice work here for this piece.
