How to more effectively hurt people part 1
In Tang Soo Do there are a series of blocks and counter strikes. Critters Eerie and Fern will demonstrate numbers 1-5. These techniques are for countering a straight punch. I am told they have ones for hook punches but I haven’t learned them yet. All of these are for countering a right hand punch. Just mirror it for a left hand punch, which may seem stupid but it is more confusing than it sounds. And don’t worry, Fern is not really getting hurt. Ok. Shall we get started?
Number 1: Block your opponent’s punch with a chop-like motion. You can keep your hand open or in a fist. I prefer open. The picture bellow the first move will give you an idea how you should look. Keep your left hand in a fist and tucked under your arm. When your opponent’s punch is blocked, make your right hand a fist and hold it with your left hand and strike your opponent with your elbow. Picture bellow shows what you should look like from other side.
Number 2: Same as number 1 but at the end twist your legs and strike with left elbow.
Number 3: block in the same fashion as 1 one and strike opponent’s neck with open right hand.
Number 4: Block in the same way as 1. This is why you have that left arm pulled back, you’re going to strike with it. Make sure to twist your hips when striking.
Number 5: This happens all at once. Your sort of make a small jump to your right, blocking with your left hand and striking your opponent’s head with a closed fist.
