He tore open the package he'd been waiting months for in excitement. It was supposed to be a 1:1 replica of a Digivice, and he wasn't disappointed. It looked just like the shows! For the first few minutes, he probed, rotated, and inspected every square inch of his new prize.
The moment he fully closed his fingers around it, a strange warmth pulsed through his hands. At first he thought it was the pleasure of owning such a magnificent replica, delighted by the fine craftsmanship. But no, this was no simple toy. The device began to glow brighter than anything he'd ever seen before, pulsing with a heavy force as if it was breathing. Just then, the "toy" began to hum at a frequency that made his bones ache. The world around him began to stretch, his bedroom growing as his perspective shifted toward the floor.
His clothes began sliding off his shrinking body, his shorts dropping to his ankles. Glancing down at his feet, he watched in disbelief as his toes began to puff, his nails pointing into small, dull claws. A shock of pain surges from the tip of his nose as a horn-like appendage emerges, swiftly raising his hand up to cover it, as if trying to stop it. Vibrant blue scales began to spread throughout his body like spray paint, glistening from the Digivice's orange glow. Before he could catch his breath, a searing heat jolted through his spine as a tail forced its way out, shifting his balance. After finally registering what was happening, he stumbled back in a panic, dropping the Digivice.
He raised his foot uncontrollably as the toes violently swelled and fused together, reorganizing themselves into three thick, clawed digits. His skin continued to shift as blue leathery scales continued their growth across his body. As the thick tail continued to slither its way out from his spine, he finally fell backwards onto the floor, watching in denial at his transforming body.
The high-pitched humming of the Digivice finally seemed to settle into a low rumble against the ground. He sat there, panting, his oversized clothes tangled around him. He looked back at the "toy" on the ground; The device flashed bold, definitive text: "DIGIVOLUTION COMPLETE."
