Nothing special, just a circuit exploiting a components characteristics.

Varicap/Varactor diode is a voltage variable capacitor, so when we put an AC signal through it it changes its capacitance and thus its capacitive reactance.

Its not that complicated, the thought behind this was just "What if?" and then improving it.
