...better known to some as "ROW ROW FIGHT DA POWAH!" from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
I've been wanting to do something like this for a while but I didn't dare to potentially ruin the original track. Regardless, here's my attempt. It's a bit hastily done, lacks polish, etc but overall I don't think it's not too shabby. Timings took a while to sort out, especially for incorporating vocals from the source material and a few things may stick out but hey, I tried.
About the vocals...although I had some instruments semi-covering up for the lack of vocals, it felt really wrong. I decided that we at least need the iconic "row row fight the power!". I managed to get three samples from the source which didn't have too much in the background to mess things up. Yes, 3. As in, "row row fight the power!", "FIGHT THE POWER!" and "ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH!" as I've taken to calling them. Yes each one is different <_<;
Instruments changed quite a bit throughout and I can only hope I made the right choices and everything is balanced better now. I cut out a few parts here and there and brought in additional instruments to reinforce the strength of some key tracks towards the final great chorus.
Originally the chorus was a bit more overpowering, especially compared to rest of the track, which was rather weak, especially at the start. I've tried to make it so the song stays fairly strong throughout whilst maintaining a clear contrast in certain places.
This was a pain to deal with because LMMS was pushing my CPU pretty hard, which I blame on the anime the music is from. Is it really that unexpected that my laptop can't handle the sheer unrestrained awesome of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann?
Oh and there's about 21 tracks of audio in the final thing. That might have something to do with it, too.

You know what? I like this better than the original!
I think the operatic singing was pretty unfitting and pretentious, and what you've put instead of it blended more fluidly and naturally with the track.
Also, I think your version really makes the melody stand out, it actually sounds kinda more... well, melodic, on the whole.
The final part is plain awesome, I won't go into details because I don't know how to explain why is it so awesome, but it really is

I originally thought that the clash between the opera and the rap was horrible: I wasn't fond of rap and the singing seemed out of place. After a few occurrences in some of the best scenes in the whole anime it grew on me. The opera singing highlighted some of the tragic elements of certain scenes and gave things this grand, epic feel, which is then interrupted much like the Dai-Gurren Brigade themselves: subverting what you'd expect and showing their own Beyond The Impossible nature. This contrast and the sheer uplifting power of the message behind the song pretty much made the original get stuck in my head for quite a while ^_^;
I will agree with you that my version is more melodic, which was something I did more of necessity than deliberate purpose: without vocals for either the rapping or the singing (and I wasn't about to provide them myself) I had to focus more on the melody that is often overshadowed by the vocals. Which is a shame as the instrumentation does help with the smoothness of the track, as you say.
I dunno about it being better than the original, but considering how many times I listen to any piece of music I do before I finally decide on exporting and uploading it...well, suffice to say, I don't tend to listen to my own tracks much afterwards. I will say that this is one of the main exceptions to that, which must mean I did something right, somewhere. ^.^
As for the final part...glad you think so! I wasn't too sure if I was able to do the final hurrah of the song justice as I felt that the ending should be something that builds up energy and finishes the song with its own bang rather than whimpering away. There are still some little issues I have with it but on the whole I am pretty proud of this remix. Thanks for the comment and +fav
