For a long time, Diane had hidden from her children that in her youth she had been a fat, gluttonous dog addicted to French madeleines. But over time, she managed to control herself, and the only remaining evidence of her past was an old, worn painting hidden in a room used as a storeroom.

But one day, the queen requested a huge quantity of French madeleines for her birthday. Diane could no longer control her addiction, so she stole them and hid in that room before devouring them all and falling into a deep sleep.

Some time later, her children found her thanks to Lupin's keen sense of smell. Diane was still asleep, and when she woke up, she would have a lot of explaining to do.
