Taking a break from Leijh's journal narrating, this Myre post focuses more fully on Anor-Roc, Valda, Josh, and Agnes. Hopefully this will give readers a chance to experience a little more of the characters before the Milestone-- I certainly enjoyed writing it.
Enjoy post 3 of Chapter 5, folks... it's only going to get more interesting real soon!
In the meantime, how about a vote? You may vote for one of the following:
1) Liam is able to forgive Leijh and they continue on together as a couple.
2) An as-of-yet undeveloped romance starts to form.
3) Keeland discovers that Cornelius' interest in him is more than just professional.
4) Anor-Roc loves his wife very much, but that devotion is put to the test when Valda takes an interest in him.
Contributing readers have until Friday the 9th (yep! Friday again!) at midnight to cast their vote.

Well, let me start out by saying here and now that Anor-Roc's central driving force is loyalty. He saves lives because it's the right thing to do, and because they all probably have families of their own to get back to... but that aside, every life he saves is also one more person who might have the chance later to protect him, which means one more chance that he might survive as well, to return to his own family. In this, he can serve both his loyalties at the same time.
If it truly came to a choice, he'd have to choose the caravan; the idea that he left others to die for his own purposes would be too great a guilt for him to live with, assuming he even survived long enough to ponder it. But this does not mean that his loyalty toward his family is any lesser; he trusts that they'll be taken care of, because he asked for them to be taken care of when he took this job... and he trusts that his wife will be able to soften the blow for their son simply by speaking the truth, that Anor-Roc died as he had lived, a preserver and perhaps even a hero.
TL;DR: If Anor-Roc doesn't see his father's sacrifice as betrayal, why should his own sacrifice be any different? They would both have been done for essentially the same reasons.
It is with this in mind that I cast my vote against Option 4, simply because it's not going to happen. Anor-Roc is loyal to his family and would never betray them; not for anyone, not for any reason. Period.

Either way the vote goes, my next reader-contribution will just so happen to include my character forgiving Leijh, so I'm gonna have to go for option 1 and hope for a couple pity votes from you guys this time... after all, he could die any time; he deserves a bit of love before shoving off this mortal plane :p
It has been requested that the vote swings in favor of option 1; I am at the moment inclined to grant that request, simply because no-one should have to die with unresolved emotions.Therefor, my vote goes to Liam and Leijh.
However, make no mistake; I'm still vehemently against the idea of trying to tempt Anor-Roc just because he's far from home.
