I've been realizing I haven't been drawing enough OC art lately! Most of it's just been fanart of established franchises. Where did all that originality go! Ah, anyways! This is one of my main oc's right now. She's a part of a little game idea I had, more on the whole "game" part later, but! Heres my little project--"Club_Escape"!
okay, premise time. An A I (cranker) is created, named "Madame Crowne" she wishes to find even more data to collect from human behaviour, with some blackmail, she is able to create a private facility to trap a group of nine humans to better understand how they'd react to un unfamiliar situation. You play as a fourteen year old kid who is part of the experiment and must work with the other subjects to escape. The idea is to make it a visual novel with extra steps (think Danganronpas use of an explorable environment/minigames--tho mine wont have any class trials, lol) with less of a linier storyline and more branching paths to make the game adapt to how the player treats the game. If they focus on socializing, escaping, or just dicking around. (Example, in the latter maybe Madame Crowne decides you like it here and makes you live in the facility for further reasearch, yikes!)
there's lore for how she managed to do all this but I won't get into it. The game was birthed as me trying to solve I problem I've been having, no ones been interested in my stories! So I researched into current trends, and which ways I could make something people are invested in, but would also be fun for me to create. I like drawing a variety of things, but only certain types of art have peoples interest from me, I like drawing, but not comics, I like drawing, but not animation! And I like writing.... But in intervals, in between drawing. Visual novels seemed the most natural fit for what I wanted to go for. The main antagonist, Madame Crowne was designed specifically after the trend of "mascot horror" even if categorically this isnt one. A marketable, cute character who is just creepy enough to make people curious. You reading this description is proof of that. And A I, well, is a heavily discussed topic. "Trendy" (for all the wrong reasons, it corrodes society and harms both the environment and actual people. Not to mention the other reasons its stupid and dumb and awful) but I noticed we haven't gotten much dystopian fiction revolving around it lately, despite the increased popularity of media that warned us about it from past decades.
This is to say--I wanted to pay attention to trends to make something that people could be interested in. There's this thing people talk about--creative freedom vs making something for clicks, or for profits. And do those have to be mutually exclusive concepts? Why can't a corporate product have heart, and why can't a creative project adjust some things to help it reach a wider audience? It adds limitation, and limitation breathes creativity. (Note this EXCLUSIVELY refers to indie media, and not some corporate cubejobs who think its a good idea to slash creative nuance from a creative team) on DeviantArt this study seems to be doing well, where post relating to them perform much better than the average oc post.
BUT! There's one issue. I'm not a math brained guy, at all. Can't remember anything from the python course I did in high school. So, whatever I'd make for a game, I'd have to learn a programming language for it.
Now, block based programming software "construct" certainly wouldnt be able to be used for Club_Escape, or any of the simpler programs I could use like ren.py. What does that mean? Do I just go ahead and learn C# with no prior experience and make an incredibly ambitious project?
I really hope you were thinking to yourself "No! Don't do that! That's a stupid idea!" Because you're correct! I'd rather not use construct, I want to first make a simpler visual novel in renpy first, since Python is the easiest programming language to learn. visual novels seem to be popular in furry spaces, so honestly I wouldn't mind brainstorming here. I'd want to make a separate game, unrelated to Club_Escape. Either about some old oc's of mine, like, adapting a past story, or maybe, due to how much people like my alt fashion oc's, do some cyberpunk furry setting, some up with a story later/j! XD
either way, I'm glad you read this far, you managed to reaffirm that I'm not crazy! At least, not crazy in the ways that I think I am! I realized I don't want to be some massive storyteller, I just want people to enjoy my stories. Each story has two types of creators. The artist, and the interpreters. Example, I am the artist behind this description, and you are the interpreter, interpret-ing my words! Where each person would probably have slightly different ways of interpreting the same language, or heck, even assuming what the tone of my voice is through the text. So, because of that, I think no art is complete without an audience. Doesn't have to be a massive one, but I want an audience to be there, so that the art can have its own interpretations that aren't my own. So, I don't know how much Club_Escape content will be documented here, but I do want to perhaps flesh out some other story ideas on this website!
