I love spiders and will let any of them crawl on me and such. Even the poisonous ones. (I've gotten really good at handling them)

They're pretty gentle animals and most all of them really try to avoid people if they can. :3

I always try and do the same here at home <3... it was more difficult to do with a tarantula that found its way into the laundry room tho <,<...had to take that one far away :p

It's been a while since I ran across one of those, but yeah... anything with urticating hairs needs to be a bit further away than the usual spiders.

Lots of them! They spit glue when feeding instead of the usual webs. Plus we have gnats all over the apartment complex and they'd eat a good bit of them. XD

With the legs it was over half-dollar sized. Oddly a bit bigger than the usual specimen, but not quite as big as some spiders I see around here. Golden orb weavers *squeeee!*

rofl where im at.....me and my friends starting messing around when all of a a huge freakish spider started chasing after us, like it had rabies and all that mean stuff, when we came back we realized we were near her nest -_-

One of the yellow and black ones with the zig zag web? I know most argiopes are willing to chase people if they get too close.

I wish I could recognize spiders better. I moved into a refurbished barn over the course of the summer and it has a lot of spiders. At first, I was really miffed at it and tried to shoo them but I've slowly become very accustomed to them, especially as they helped get rid of all the annoying summery insects like flies and mosquitoes. Most are just daddy long-legs but there's also this rather big spider I sometimes see at night. I dunno what it is and I'm tempted to try and take a picture of it and/or relocate it.

Awww! I think it's awesome that you like spiders. :) My mom had a tarantula named Minerva when I was a kid. Me, I don't like spiders much, and they do like biting me. Of course every fall, I get yellow sac spiders in my home. >.< but I never ever hurt them, and I know how they behave, so I just nudge them off the ceiling, and trap them under a glass, and then I let them loose outside.

Sadly I had to let go the one tarantula I caught as a kid, but I was bad about catching insects and various bugs for pets.

Though I think spiders just bite you because like foxes, they know bunnies are delicious! XD

You caught a tarantula as a kid? What kind? Ma had a Mexican Red Leg, but that of course was obtained as a pet to start with.

As for how I taste...I can't think of a witty comeback just yet, so I'll just give you this instead.

It was a Texas brown tarantula which is about the only one we see out here.

Yeah, they're one of the specialized spiders that don't use the standard spider tactics. The squirt a web and venom mix at high speed that snares insects. It's pretty neat.

Though on rare occasions we also get bola spiders which also kick ass. They'll climb overhangs, let out a web strand they secrete on, and flick it around like a whip to snag flying insects. :3

We get lots of brown recluse spiders here, not as many as other areas though.

I think the two most common in my area are wolf spiders and bold jumping spiders (love how they move sometimes like they're in stop motion animation ^.^)


Recluses are pretty neat, though my coworkers get pissed every time I toss one outside over killing it. X3

A few of my family members have been bitten by them, they're all old people so it was more serious than it would have normally been. I've never heard of anyone dying from their bites except small kids.

My house is typically covered in Scytodes on the outside. Hard to ID them to species though. Mine are a bit different from this one.
