Doing a series of small art trades with my friend
SlashtheHare, where I turn some of their older unused designs into Aunova! They requested designs non-canon to the species, and while I struggled with it a bit internally at first, I've been enjoying the products!
This guy is frutiger aero themed, and is actually a hybrid of a Dune subtype and an unreleased Aquatic subtype that I’ll drop when the species has enough people to do an big event haha ;;
He’s considered non-canon because his bioluminescent parts are instead holographic (even though it doesn’t show very well here 💀).
While my Aunova species has a canon set of guidelines that need to be followed to be considered “official” to the lore (and I prefer that they be followed), I don’t really make a fuss when people step outside the guidelines to create/have “unofficial” or non-canon Aunova occasionally, so long as they are specified as such on their refs or when posting them in groups.
On a case-by-case basis, Aunova with unnatural/mutated/monstorous forms due to things like body mods, experimentation, or lab accidents can be considered “canon” if they also have a design, lore, or art for how they looked before the event.
