Okay, serious talk.
KO_OP, the devs behind Goodbye Volcano High, wanted to do so much more with it. They're used to making standalone games, but they felt this one could be different. They had all sorts of ideas for prequel and tie-in material, and were even working on a collaboration with Night in the Woods. They loved and cherished this dino world they had created, and they didn't want to let it go.
Now imagine how they felt when 4channers hijacked their characters for a milquetoast visual novel with little more to say than "if you don't stop being trans, your life is fucked." Imagine how they felt getting their server raided multiple times, or that people kept sending them memes of their lead character as a school shooter or as a tradwife for some faceless human male, or that genuine GVH fans that stood by them were stalked, threatened, doxed, and pedojacketed.
GVH's delay was for multiple reasons, but one reason people rarely bring up when discussing it is because the ongoing harassment was so awful that many members of the team needed therapy and mental health breaks. And in the end, the leaders of the team couldn't bring themselves to risk any more harassment to their team if they were to dare touch their own fucking IP again. It's nothing short of a miracle that GVH came out at all, let alone being a critical and commercial success, including many award wins and nominations.
4channers are gonna do what they do, I get that. What I don't get is that so many people gave Cavemanon a pass, overlooking the racist and transphobic rhetoric in that game. I'm alarmed is how many queer people, including many furries, showed support for them, even after every terrible thing Cavemanon has done since Snoot came out. I worry that people just don't give a shit, so long as they get good furry bait.
I do wish KO_OP could continue building on GVH's world, but I understand why they had to step away. More urgently, I truly wish more furries gave GVH the time of day, rather than let a fandom run by and for transphobes infiltrate and control the narrative about the game and studio they tried to destroy. But I guess that's asking too much.

i'll respond piece by piece:
For paragraphs 1 and 2: Ko_op's biggest mistakes with gvh have always been 2, with the 1st and most sever was being managing to have their game trailer (with 0 gameplay btw) showcased at the ps5 "future of gaming" presentation. i remember clearly watching that presentation, thinking "maybe its gonna be like nitw" while everyone else i discussed that presentation with called gvh the worst game presented, mocking it and mocking me for being a furry and having a modicum of hope toward it. That was just a small group, this presentation hit worldwide, with million of views outside its niche, its Newton's 3rd law mixed with the human nature and the principle of echo chambers: to any action correspond an inevitable reaction, people are evil by nature and in insulated groups, without opposing opinions, things will inevitably escalate.
for the 3rd paragraph: the second mistake ko_op made is also what i assumed to be the main reason for the delays: which is the original lead writer being a kotaku journalist behind an infamous article containing and discussing lolicon/shotacon. i learnt about that person mere days after seeing the showcases, and it really painted a disgusting image on the game itself and while i believe its never a good idea to replace a member of your staff, especially if its a lead writer, let alone in a narrative-driven game, i sadly wouldn't have done otherwise, especially once the truth came out, something that, to this day i still believe wouldn't have happened if the game didn't appeared on that ps5 presentation. I also learnt ko_op got government funding for the game so, i don't think being a commercial success was ever gonna be an issue for Ko-op and regard the critical success, when the game came out, any interest had already faded, and the ridicolously high price is way too high to justify hateplaying it, leaving only an extreme niche. and finaly, regard the collab with nitw... i dunno man, i doubt it was ever gonna be the same ever since Alec passed away.
For pharagraph 4: you're making a lot of assumption, first and foremost, most people didn't played snoot game, what 4chan did so much better than ko_op was making a meme out their game, even with the name itself: "snoot game" simple and sounds funny, while "goodbye volcano high" sounds pretentious and lame, also, if we really wanna lament about queer people having bad tastes, then cavemanon shouldn't be as much of a concern with viziepop going so strong atm and finally, regard their terrible actions: i know it sounds horrible to say, but being racist, doxxing and transphobic doesn't really hits as hard when compared to something like the anime industry's treatment of Nobuhiro Watsuki. its sucks, i get you, but even if it should be, doxing ain't a real crime in america.
Regard the final paragraph: i will be 100% honest: i actually played gvh and i fucking hated it. if i were to list every single thing that mad me hate it, and since the largest bulk of criticism comes from the writing departement, i don't think discussing it would be fair, consdiering their situation but to put it simply and, as an artist myself, i have so much to say about the art department that it would take me hours to fully detail what's wrong with it, simply put: looking at that pricetag of 30$ and then have the courage to sell the soundtrack separatedly, after playing the game felt like an insult to me to me. another gripe i have with the game, which is admittedly more personal, is the lack of a proper failstate in the few gameplay section of the videogame i was playing, NITW had music sections that you could fail too, sure, but unlike gvh, mae being a good bassist was never a central plot point in the story of the game.
I will probably never play snoot game, even if i'm interested, less because i like/dislike cavemanon and/or their actions, and more becuase i vowed to not touch it until i had finished gvh, which i categorically refuse to. they can keep my money, but i don't really want to touch their game ever again. transphobic or not, i don't need someone else's opinion of a game to dictate my tought about it, if you want furries to try a gvh because anthros, then they should put themselves down the line, behind dust: an elysian tail, jazzjackrabbit 2 and at least a dozen other titles.
i spent half an hour writing this, i don't really know how to end it, sorry if it has typos.

Go fuck yourself for your glazing of Snoot Game and Cavemanon's racism, doxxing, and transphobia being "not so bad" because of "viziepop going so strong atm". Fucking stupid ass bullshit, excusing bigotry because "well i don't like viziepop" or some other crap.

a random game made by a 4channer on the internet is irrelevant in term of damage and exposire compared to a mainstream animated series.
my point about queer people and viziepop is that she is not just awful at writing, but her shows are also a magnet for queer people.
and unlike snoot game, i actually watched them and came to despise them

Your opinion is your own problem, as is your equivalency argument between "game that steals an LGBTQ+ positive studio's IP and is full of transphobic, racist, and tradwife imagery, as openly admitted by the developer" and "tv show that's queer friendly but not to everyone's taste". You're the one who brought up Viziepop, and you argue that Snoot Game and its horrendous, explicitly hateful 4channer fanbase, and their documented harassment of KO_OP's staff, their associates, and anyone who happened to be nearby, is somehow excused by Viziepop existing.
You then brought up an actual fucking pedophile getting a pass in the Japanese anime/manga industry, and what the fuck? "Oh, an entirely different culture didn't throw this guy out on his ass, so it's not worth being mad about Cavemanon and Snoot Game getting a pass"? Exactly what was your point there? Yeah, that sucks. Both situations can suck, and they do. This isn't that situation, though. How does "this situation about bigotry" not hit as hard because "Japanese man who is a pedophile was barely punished"? Hey, people are being fucking tortured in ICE detention centers as we speak, how dare you be upset about any other thing going on, even if it directly effects your life!
You hated GVH? Great! You're entitled to your opinion! You're also entitled to have shitty views! You opened this, though, by asking essentially "what do you think about KO_OP trying to avoid more harassment while Snoot Game's devs are still riding their stolen IP's style" and when told "it's pretty shitty", your response was essentially "well KO_OP deserved it because queer people and furries being ungrateful and they didn't meme as well and really why should we care when there are other problems in the world like a pedophile not being punished and also GVH was terrible to me, personally." To which the only real response should be:
Fuck off, and continue fucking off for the foreseeable future.
