Cover/Concept for something I've been sitting on since... 2007?

My original idea was to take old cowboy ballads of the 50s and 60s, use them as a basis for characters, and expand them into an original narrative. Some folks may be like "But Pipe! that is like, copyin'!" Yes and no. A song gives me maybe a short opening sequence in which to establish a character, and in most to all cases with these, That is hardly any information at all. I like to think I'm breathing new life into concepts long abandoned by their creators. Or at least not retconning myself like Marty Robbins in "Felina from El Paso" Silly boy.
