The prolonged delay for this TF was brought to you by: Sl/ay the Sp/ire 2.
Anyway, onto the proper description.
Gamzee is a character I feel bad for.
He’s a victim of neglect who was raised as part of a cult and got into drugs way too early in his life, and yet, he is treated poorly, by both his friends and the author of the very story he is a part of, gets brainwashed, manipulated, and pushed past his breaking point. He goes insane, loses his autonomy, is turned into a walking plot device who is also a joke, and is locked away at the end of the comic, never to be freed, as he’s labeled as “dangerous” and “annoying”. (I can’t excuse his abuse towards Ter/ezi, though. Or the murder.)
(Also, no, I’m not a Vri/ska hater. I’m more neutral-leaning-positive towards her, to be honest. She’s not the best person, but she is also a victim of abuse which shaped her into who she is, and is not the morally worst person in Homestuck by a long shot. Vri/ska did some things wrong, and that’s okay.)
And, the epilogues double down on this stuff, with added weird sexual shit (/neg) involving him. I like to forget the epilogues exist as a whole, not just because of how he was treated in them, but because of how everyone was treated in them.
Not to forget the fact he was written by a… rather racist person, and how said person’s racism affected both his creation, and him as a character. Let us never forget that.
Yeah, if you can’t tell, Homestuck gives me very conflicting emotions. But, I still feel attached to it, so… yeah.
This is probably softer than actual Homestuck Extended Universe stuff (I don’t really check in on it), but I think Gamzee deserves a happy ending.
Anyway have morally gray TFers, a more experimental TF story and, to quote my notes, “Morally Ambiguous Clown Adoption”. This was inspired by Lim/bus Comp/any Canto 7 a bit, mostly Don’s backstory, as you can probably tell from Mervyn Manche’s name and appearance. I’m not very subtle.
Homestuck was created by Andrew Hussie.
