Well, I knew how to do it before, but their faces were very sparse and extremely formulaic. And starting in November, with my posts about the Darwin Museum, I began to hone my skills in animal stylization. And it turns out I can easily transfer these skills to drawing human faces too! I've hardly drawn people since November, so I had no idea about my sudden ability.
I remember recently watching a TikTok video of people drawing caricatures from life and marveling at their skill in exaggerating the proportions of a human face, not realizing that I CAN DO THE SAME TOOππ

Nice! I've been working on the same skill - human faces are hard, for sure! In my case I suspect it has more to do with my face blindness. It's not severe, but I do struggle to pick out a lot of the nuances of the human face without concentrating *really* hard, and easily forget the faces of people I don't see regularly. It isn't exactly practical to fixate super hard on someone's face during conversation, especially since I already avoid eye contact by default, and then I end up forgetting what we were talking about in the process. I'm super glad to hear you've found a way that works for you! For me, it's a matter of practice, treating the anatomy of the human form the way I treat animal forms, and figuring out which features to exaggerate or minimize.
