I based the background of a google street view image of a town that is VERY close to Cuzco, Peru. Inspired by how a lot of Jojo parts are based in "foreign" settings (or at least, foreign to the Japanese author Hirohiko Araki) so I wanted to emulate that! The original idea was to put it in Peru (as shown in this image), but I've since found that placing the story in Costa Rica instead might suit the characters and story better. That said, it's still something I could change. As you can imagine, due to the Andes in the background, this is quite an old commission.
His "stand" is quite similar to Koichi's Act 2 stand from Jojo Part 4, which I felt was very under-utilized in its source material. It's a bit complicated to explain, though.
Let's say that he encounters a rock. He can throw a letter from his hand towards the rock, say "l", and that rock becomes a lock instead. (So, it would transform into a traditional padlock, for example.) In exchange, he would be able to use the "r" in the future, perhaps to change a bat to a rat, for example. You can see his cloud of letters that he shoots from in his left hand. I may change some aspects of his powers in the future (for example, maybe he's able to transform life but can't create it from thin air), but that's the main concept. He would also be able to work with multiple languages - for example, a shirt can also be a "camisa" in Spanish. One may change camisa to... uh, casa? If he were to take away two letters, that is. Not sure how to balance this and how to best implement it. Regardless, he would probably be pretty damn good at scrabble.
