It was supposed to be a nice day for Patchmon. He just got done delivering his last package of the day, even got tipped in a weird looking accessory from an Ancientwisemon. However, before he could start relaxing, his roommate, Isulvmon, went missing. Apparently, Isulvmon heard about some pond with rare fish in it deep inside the forest near the freelancer’s castle, and has yet to return. The sun is almost ready to set, and Patchmon is frantically searching through the forest for Isulvmon.
“Isulvmon!” Patchmon cried out. “Isulvmon! Where are you?” Patchmon was starting to get worried. While he could float, the foliage was too thick to see through, so a bird’s eye view was out. All he could do is keep calling out his name and look for him. The forest also had a few aggressive digimon, so not even asking around was an option.
“Okay, okay, calm down Patchmon. You’ve seen Isulvmon fight. You know him well. He can handle himself and he wouldn’t get himself in trouble.” Patchmon said, trying to calm himself down. As he does, he finally finds a clue. Some frost on a bush, likely from an attack from Isulvmon.
After spotting some tracks, Patchmon floats after them at a running pace. He manages to catch up after a bit and spots Isulvmon…who is looking injured and tired…surrounded by Dokugumons that look hungry. Patchmon had to act quickly, if he wanted to save Isulvmon. There were only a couple, but still champion level digimon, so fighting is off the table. Running however was possible, especially if he could float above the trees with Isulvmon.
Patchmon could grab him, but he needed to get in closer. Patchmon slowly floats closer, trying not to get spotted, and as the Dokugumon were about to start snacking on Isulvmon, Patchmon made his move. “THREAD WEAVER!!!” Patchmon shouted as threads shoot out from his claws and wraps around Isulvmon. Patchmon then pulls him up as he attempts to fly out of the forest.
The Dokugumon start shooting spider silk at them, trying to pull them back in. Patchmon manages to dodge them, but as soon as they cleared the tree line, a web sticks to Isulvmon. Patchmon tries to get away with all his might, but it was no use. They were pulled in rather quickly, Isulvmon was pulled away from him, and Patchmon was pinned to the ground, and all he could do was watch as they got ready to dine on Isulvmon.
At that moment, images of him and Isulvmon appeared in Patchmon’s mind. Memories of them spending time together, having fun times together, sharing secrets, and even the emotional moments flooded his mind. Patchmon then started to cry. He knew that Isulvmon would become an egg, and they could start over, but he didn’t want that. He wanted to repay his friend’s kindness. He wanted to help him. In that moment, that’s all he wanted. So much so, he could help but shout out his deepest wish. “I…I want…more than anything…I WANT TO SAVE MY FRIEND!!!”
And the moment he did that, as if manifesting a miracle, the accessory he had been carrying started to glow brightly. Patchmon felt the power flowing through him, and instinctively knew what was happening. “PATCHMON ARMOR SHINKAA!” Patchmon shouted as he was enveloped by the light. His began unraveling rapidly into thread, which began to weave into a new form. First a head with eyes covered by his hair with snow and ice coloration, then a robe with a pattern of icicles all over, and finally 3 claws made of ice form on the end of the sleeves. Then snow swirled and formed wings on his back. Next, eye patterns start to form on the icicle pattern on the robe, as if opening and closing. Finally a halo forms behind his head with the digicrest of ice inside of it. “The halo of winter, Snowangemon.” He said in a calm voice, marking the digivolution’s completion.
The Dokugumons backed away from Snowangemon, cautious of the new form their prey had taken on, while Snowangemon examined his new look a bit. “Interesting. The digicrest of ice, huh? I’ll have to be sure to thank ancientwisemon next time we meet.” He said ever so calmly, before turning his attention back to the Dokugumons. “Alright. Do be afraid. You harmed a dear friend of mine. And that crime must not go unpunished. However, know my mercy, because your deaths shall be swift and painless as it can be.”
Agitated by his words, the Dokugumons attacked. “Poison threads!” They shouted in unison as they all fired their attacks at once. However, Snowangemon remained calm, knowing that they wouldn’t reach him.
“Heavenly snowscape.” He said as the halo behind his head began to glow bright and expands rapidly. A wall of snowflakes appeared, blocking the poison threads, as it keeps expanding, but instead of pushing the Dokugumon away, they’re let inside of the newly formed dome. On the outside, it just looks like a large dome made of snowflakes had appeared inside the forest. Inside, the entire forest has been changed into a snowscape at dawn. Not even trees remained. The snow started shifting, and in the Dokugumon’s confusion, the snow started to pull Isulvmon towards Snowangemon, and was slowly healing his wounds.
“Snow blade.” As he said that, his claws closed and then blades of ice formed in their place. Before anyone could blink, all the heads of the Dokugumon were chopped off. In seconds, they disappeared, and Snowangemon returned to Isulvmon’s side. He then lowered himself and waited for him to wake up.
Slowly, Isulvmon started to open his eyes, and looked around. He was surprised that he was in a snowscape when he was in a forest. “How long was I out?” He muttered.
“Not long, only a few minutes. Are you alright now?” Snowangemon said in a calm voice.
Isulvmon was surprised at the digimon by his side, but he seemed awfully familiar. “I’m…alright, I guess. Who are you?”
“I am Snowangemon. Although, perhaps you knew me better as Patchmon.”
“Patchmon?! You digivolved? How?”
“With the digicrest of ice, but that is unimportant now. I took care of the Dokugumon, so rest a little until you're fully healed, and then I’ll fly us back to the castle.”
“Okay…” Isulvmon looks Snowangemon up and down. “Uh, how do you feel?”
Snowangemon took a second to answer that. “I…feel great. Like I ascended or something. But I’m really glad I was able to save you. Guess my wish was granted.”
Isulvmon nods. “Where did you get the digicrest of ice?”
“I delivered a package to an Ancientwisemon, and he gave me a peculiar accessory. I was going to study what it was, but guess I know now.”
“I see.” After a moment of silence, Isulvmon gets up. “Alright, I’m ready to leave.” Snowangemon nods and the snowscape disappears, and the halo reappears back in its original position.
Snowangemon picks up Isulvmon and begins flying up. Once they’re above the trees, he starts flying towards the freelancer’s castle. After gently dropping Isulvmon on a balcony, Snowangemon dedigivolves back into Patchmon. “Aww, thought it would last longer.”
Isulvmon then hugs Patchmon. “Doesn’t matter, just happy you’re here. And thanks for saving me.”
Patchmon hugs back. “No problem. Glad I could help a friend.” They hold the hug for a little bit, before Patchmon breaks it with a panicked expression. “Crud! We need to let the others know you’re back!”
Patchmon then flies quickly to the communications room, Isulvmon following, to let everyone know they can come back. It was an intense evening, but thanks to Patchmon’s strong desire to help his friend, they made it back safely, and with a brand new digicrest to boot. Hopefully tomorrow will be much less eventful.
