Felt like revisiting an old Ginga OC I originally created back in 2015 since I never made a proper digital ref sheet for this guy. (I regret giving him such an asymmetrical design because his spots are so hard to keep consistent, but oh well)

Anyway, Tamotsu is a the son of one of the Koga dogs back in GNG, and always treated as an outcast for his odd birthmark on his back that seems to spell out the kanji character (according to the Internet, again probably not super reliable but that's what it gave me) for the Koga's enemy clan. Whether this was a curse or just a coincidence is still unknown.

Unfortunately his hatred for the Iga clan only grew once he saw all the adult Kogas, including his own father, jump to their deaths in the fire that Akame started. (Yeah, more or less the exact same arc Tesshin had at the beginning of the GDW manga but I've cut that part out in my personal AU, for that part I instead went with the anime's version where Tesshin doesn't have any resentment for the Ohu army).

Blaming Akame and the entire Ohu army for the death of his father, Tamotsu set out on a quest for revenge to murder Akame. Unfortunately his attempt to track down the Ohu army and locate Akame was never successful, even up until his adulthood. Not even when he temporarily joined Hougen's army.

After time passed, and after having lost too many fights with Ohu soldiers, and once again having lost purpose in his life after Hougen's death, Tamotsu ultimately gave up on his mission to kill Akame. After learning that the Iga, Koga, and Ohu army have all allied with each other, he decided to instead make peace with Akame and join Tesshin's Koga clan.


Also fun fact back in 2015 I also wrote/drew an entire comic about Tamotsu's story but gave up after 31 pages. Still impressive for what I could do back then, maybe I'll share some pages if I'm brave enough lol
