This was one of the first commissions I got of D&D characters. These two are Camille and Aurora, two Dungeons & Dragons 4E player characters.

Camille is a Swordmage, a character who fights with a combination of magic and her weapon. She teleports around the battlefield, striking people with her sword while throwing up force shields to defend her allies. She is the daughter of a well-off merchant who got sent to a magical military academy that trains people like her, with the hopes of her marrying the son of some rich noble. Instead, she decided she wanted to be her own person, studied and trained hard, and became an excellent swordmage... only to end up working as a mercenary for a while in a group with her then-girlfriend (the two broke up before the game began). After leaving that group, she got hired by Lady Aurora as a guide and bodyguard, and has been going on adventures with the unicorn ever since, while simultaneously being amused by Aurora's combination of arrogance and naivete, but also wanting to protect her from anything too bad happening to her. Camille is a good person at heart, but definitely has a streak of defiant snark in her.

Lady Aurora, meanwhile, is a Unicorn with a capital U. Like all unicorns, she is a noble, and only very recently left her homeland on an extended "vacation" in the lands of the Little People. Unicorns in her world are a combination of French and English nobility; they're kind of silly creatures, with a lot of magic, and a lot of arrogance. They sort of look down on everyone else for being less magical than they are, but also are fundamentally good people, so they have a sort of Unicorn's Burden towards the world, this weird noblesse obligee that they are both better than other people but also that those other people just can't help not being unicorns, and so need their care and support and guidance. Aurora is "slumming it" with the "lesser races", and has been having a great time on her little "adventure", finding a cute gryphon boy named Clive to smooch along the way - he is a scoundrel, and she LOVES that.

Together, they fight crime!
