⋆˙⟡ Yesterday morning I found a slug on my building's doorstep. I used a leaf to gently scoop it off the pavement- the little guy had put himself in a spot that sees a looot of foot traffic throughout the day and I didn't want it to get squished.

If I had to choose a favorite invertebrate, it'd have to be slugs right now. I spend a lot of time awake in the very early morning- hours before sunset -and consequentially encounter them more than your average diurnal noodle. I've watched them, I've fed them, I've moved them out of precarious-looking situations. I come across pictures of slugs online and a smile blooms on my face before I register what I'm looking at. I've laughed with delight at seeing them appear unexpectedly in videos. I love nearly all invertebrates, but there's something special about these weird little guys. Seeing one in the wild rekindles a sense of childlike awe and wonder I so rarely experience in my adult life. The entire world slows to a crawl as I drop everything to appreciate a tiny creature.

Thank you, you disgusting little freak of nature, for reminding me that life can be beautiful.

Also someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but curse you FurAffinity for not having a slug option- yes, my sona takes up more of the physical space but Mx. Leopard Slug here is the star of the show :[
