Hurdy-gurdy - Altered wish wand
Magic wands are objects with varying powers. Some are no better than remote controls or keys, allowing only a limited number of actions, while others are tools that could change the face of the world if the wielder so desires. It should be noted that not everyone is capable of using such an artefact: those that are as useful as remote controls can be used by almost anyone, requiring only a few resources and the right word to activate the object's abilities. But a wand with more arcane powers requires a certain mastery and knowledge of magic.
Wish wands are a kind of mixture of the two previous categories: anyone can use them, even the lowest human vermin devoid of any magical essence, and their power is considerable. This is often offset by a reduced number of uses, with the unspoken norm seeming to be around 3 wishes.
However... Even magical objects can reach the end of their useful life.
In the case of a wishing wand, this is indicated by a flawed sparkle, as if the bright, constantly glowing sparkles were flickering erratically. Using a wishing wand that has reached the end of its life may still grant wishes, but with the alteration, the wishes will not be exactly as the user intended.
If you find an altered wishing wand, please do not use it and take it to a suitable recycling centre so that the remaining arcane properties can be extracted and rehabilitated.
