Backstory: A town built from necessity. The inhabitants of this largely isolated town grew from the descendants of the bifurcated vessel lying in the harbor. A generation ago, this formerly space-faring vessel foundered on this world. Cut off from home and with help a faraway hope, they chose to use what they could from the derelict ship and take root here. The current island town thrives on a mix of ingenuity, resourcefulness, and determination. The townspeople are happy here, and once a year, they gather to commemorate the day a ship full of future settlers fell from the stars.
Intriguing aircraft design. The use of the counter-rotating props is mechanically complex yet does successfully offset torque, at the potential cost of some stability and, depending upon the prop design, noise and vibration issues, even with single or paired turbines powering them. I'm a little worried about the small diameter and thus the volume of air they can move, unless their rotation speed is extremely high, which brings its' own issues to the table. Does it have issues at all with asymmetric stall, such as that with the old Vought F-4U Crusader (aka the Ensign Eliminator)? Or do the contra-rotating props eliminate that issue?
