Hey everyone,
I really couldn’t resist the title. A friend even suggested, “God is busy, may I help you?” which made me laugh.
This painting is the next Yria commission for one of my wonderful supporters,
. I had so much fun bringing their character to life.
They say impatience is the first step into the underworld, and Eldanoth is there to grant any wish a fellow dreamer might carry... though every wish comes with a price. There are countless stories of those who longed to reach for the stars yet failed to see the horizon beneath their feet, souls slipping into the abyss in exchange for quick satisfaction.
So goes the tale of a poor trader who, in truth, already had everything: safety, a loving family, a warm home, and food on the table. What he lacked was prosperity, for his business never flourished the way he had hoped. One day, word reached him of a great dealsman who could help ambitious souls rise quickly, promising grand success with little effort. All it required was joining his enterprise and becoming one of his spokesmen.
Blinded by dazzling promises and intoxicated by visions of wealth beyond measure, the trader allowed himself to be swept away and couldn't hold the pen himself anymore, so Eldanoth helped him sign the contract as a shortcut toward the life he thought he deserved.
Little did the trader understand that quick success often demands the deepest sacrifice. He gained the riches he had dreamed of, yet in doing so, he lost himself. His loved ones no longer recognized the man before them, whispering that something hovered above his head, as if a dark shadow followed him wherever he went.
Despite their efforts to reach him, to remind him of who he once was, they were ultimately forced to leave. The wealth he had gained consumed him entirely, and in the end, he stood alone, successful, perhaps, but hollow.
This one took me longer than expected, mostly due to the shadows and colour choices which I kept swapping back and forth. :)
Thank you so much for looking!

Those of us subjected to an earlier generation of Microsoft products might have titled this, "You look like you're signing a Faustian bargain. Would you like some help with that?"
But still, what a fantastic piece. All your signature glorious lighting and characterisation and flair, of course, but especially that fox's expression of excitement and greed with the obvious, half suppressed but still profoundly unsettling knowledge that actually there's something terribly, terribly wrong with the bargain he's making...

Beautiful imagery. Always love skulldemons and these are some of the best drawn ones I've seen. Your style really adds to it.
Great story too, very traditional as far as demonic deals go. "All it required was joining his enterprise and becoming one of his spokesmen" makes it a literal pyramid scheme from hell, which is very on-brand.

I feel like if this were possible, we'd all be doomed, wouldn't we?
Imagine a demon that could propose a contract to you, then sign it for you? 'Hey, wanna be sexy? Rich? Intelligent? I can do that for you at the paltry cost of your soul! I've already signed the paperwork, so you're all good! Have fun! Byyeeee~!'
