I came across a video in my recommended called "The Hard Life of a Yaoi Fangirl" from 2009 and thought it was the perfect time capsule of that era and I wanted to make fan art of the main character and owner of the channel, May-chan, the protector of Yaoi. I tried to mimic the old anime obsessed 2000s DeviantART kid type style it has, but but I can still see my Twoodland1994 influence cracking through TwT the video itself is pretty great and the song choices are amazing like using a tatu song for the section about the homophobic mother is GENIUS and really makes you feel dor Maychan and what she's going through and get put in her shoes
