Here, with Hero Forge, I've created two formidable hybrids: a polar bear-tomcat hybrid I call Amleth (after the character from a medieval Scandinavian legend considered the direct inspiration for William Shakespeare's "Hamlet, Prince of Denmark," which Robert Eggers adapted as "The Northman") and a female panther-bear hybrid I call Onyxia (derived from obsidian/onyx). The books between them represent their shared love of literature.
A Brief History
Amleth was born to a tomcat and a polar bear. They named him after the warrior Amleth, a figure from a medieval Scandinavian legend considered the inspiration for Shakespeare's Hamlet. He combined the best qualities of both species. Amleth was particularly proud of his bear-like strength. However, the feeling of belonging neither to the polar bears nor the cats troubled him. To release his aggression, he engaged in intensive weight training and found solace in books, especially fantasy, myths, and legends, which gave him the feeling that his uniqueness would lead him to something great.
In a far less cold region, Onyxia was born the daughter of a bear and a female black panther. She was named after obsidian. Although she was proud of her physique, especially the bear's immense strength, she was also tormented by inner conflict. To the bears, she had too much of a cat, and to the big cats, too much of a bear.
Weight training and literature became her solace.
Although not superstitious, she consulted an old fortune teller who prophesied that her uniqueness would encounter and unite with the uniqueness of another.
One day, a new gym opened, and Amleth and Onyxia met. Amleth had come all the way from the north.
At first glance, they found each other fascinating, but their competitive spirit briefly took over; they wanted to show who could lift more, who was stronger and tougher.
This entertained everyone who had simply come to work out, and they even filmed it with their smartphones. The owner wanted to put a stop to these competitions, but then he thought it would generate more publicity for his fitness center, which turned out to be true.
Amleth and Onyxia grew closer, and it was the beginning of an intense relationship that started with a rivalry.
Both were overcome with the feeling of finally having arrived.
Onyxia silently thanked the fortune teller that her uniqueness had found another uniqueness. Amleth felt like a warrior king who had finally found his warrior queen.
Both not only trained their muscles but also enjoyed various books, whether for entertainment or for further education (both were self-taught). Both showed that they were more than just size, muscle mass, and claws.
They especially loved playing with children, and the children loved them.
They were certain they would marry, but whether starting a family would be possible seemed impossible due to their hybrid nature. However, even nature can work wonders.
